Uruguay: Destruction of hunting guns IANSA member ALUDEC in Uruguay has welcomed the destruction of over 8000 weapons organised by the Ministry of National Defense on 24 July. The majority of arms were gathered from the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fishing and the event signified the country's first destruction of weapons previously used for hunting and sports. Over 100 weapons were also voluntarily handed to authorities by civilians. The destruction follows a previous project held in May during the 'Disarming Uruguay' seminar; a further destruction of military surplus is planned for the end of the year. Click here to read more.
